30-year-old Juan Ignacio Duran was sentenced to almost 30 years of prison at the end of December, for the drunk driving accident he caused that resulted in the death of 71-year-old Westminster resident, Dianne Johnson.
Duran pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and first degree assault in the case over an accident that occurred on December 28 of 2018, and was sentenced in Jefferson County almost exactly a year after the crash.
The night of the accident, police witnessed Duran driving the wrong way on Westminster Boulevard, when he crashed into three vehicles. At the time, Duran had double the legal limit of blood alcohol content in his blood and had also been using marijuana.
Tragically, Johnson died at the scene of the accident, but the drivers of the other automobiles were not seriously injured.
