A fatal hit-and-run accident in Weld County on Tuesday evening tragically left a family without its father.
According to the Fort Lupton Police Department, the collision occurred in the 10200 block of Highway 52 around 7:30 p.m. on the evening of May 19th.
When police arrived on the scene they discovered a Honda CRV off to the side of the road with 30-year-old Fort Lupton resident Zac Bruns laying on the ground in front of it. Bruns was pronounced at the scene.
Police believe that a hit-and-run driver struck Bruns while he was outside of his vehicle and then drove away, leaving multiple items at the scene that the police were later able to use to locate the vehicle.
“I just don’t understand why anyone would do such a thing to such an innocent, loving husband and father,” Bruns’ wife said to Denver7.
Police are asking that anyone with information about this terrible tragedy call 720-652-4222.
