Two people driving a stolen vehicle passed away after crashing into a Westminster fire station early Thursday morning.
According to the Westminster police department, around 2:15 a.m. on the morning of May 7th, a police officer noticed a vehicle reported to have been stolen, being driven in the area of Mariposa Street and 120th Avenue.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the stolen automobile refused to yield. The officer gave chase and was quickly joined by other police officers, chasing the vehicle south on Federal Boulevard.
Despite “stop sticks” being deployed by police, the vehicle continued to fail to yield, driving into a neighborhood in the area, and eventually crashing into a local fire station located on Lowell Boulevard.
Both the man and the woman in the stolen vehicle died at the scene of the accident. No emergency personnel were injured in the accident. Lowell Boulevard was closed for several hours for investigation.
