A 6-year-old girl died at the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs, while riding one of the rides last Sunday evening.
According to park representative Suzanne Emery, ‘an incident’ occurred on the Haunted Mine Drop ride on the evening of September 5th, that resulted in the child being killed.
The girl and her family were on vacation at the park from Colorado Springs, when she suffered fatal injuries on the ride.
Park employees attempted to render first aid for the child, while waiting for the emergency response crews to arrive.
The Haunted Mine Drop sends people falling 110 feet into the mountain the park is built on, and it is required that park goers sign a release form in order to go on the ride.
An investigation is being conducted, and the park closed for the Monday and Tuesday following this tragic accident, out of respect for the loss of the child.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family after this terrible tragedy.
