A semi-truck owned by Nebraska company, K & B Transportation Inc., caught fire on Interstate 70 near Strasburg, around 2 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, February 6th.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the semi was headed west on I-70, when the driver of another vehicle alerted the truck driver to smoke coming from the rear end of the semi-truck. The truck driver stopped the semi, and it then burst into flames fully engulfing the trailer.
Thankfully the truck driver was uninjured. The driver’s attempts at extinguishing the fire failed, but emergency response crews responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The trailer was unsalvageable.
The truck had been carrying thousands of bottles of Heineken for delivery to Denver. Sadly, the beer could not be saved.
The semi-truck fire closed down I-70 for about two hours, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation at the time of this writing.
