A horrifying and tragic collision in Prowers County last Wednesday night, resulted in four teenagers being killed, and injuries for three other people involved.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. on the evening of September 8th, at Prowers County Road 196 and Highway 287, outside of Wiley.
Apparently, an SUV carrying five teenagers between the ages of 14 and 16, turned in front of a semi-truck hauling a boat, and were crashed into by the semi-truck.
Sadly, four of the teenagers in the SUV did not survive the collision. The fifth teen passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment. The semi-truck contained two passengers, a 50-year-old and a 25-year-old, both of whom were taken to the hospital
The police are continuing to investigate, and at this point it is not believed that intoxication played a role in this terrible crash.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.
