On the afternoon of Friday, February 7th, a Colorado State Patrol Trooper was injured in an accident while attempting to assist a truck driver who had previously been in a solo accident.
At about 15 minutes to 5 p.m., the trooper and a Baca County Deputy were stopped on the side of Highway 287 helping the truck driver, when an Arizona driver crashed into the back of the Trooper’s patrol car.
The initial collision caused a chain reaction that pushed the patrol car into the other two cars at the scene. In total, all four vehicles were damaged and, judging by photos of the accident scene released by the CSP, there was a great deal of wreckage.
No one else was injured in the collision, and the authorities do not believe that intoxication was a factor in the accident.
