Yesterday, Thursday the 21st of November, saw a number of very serious and tragic traffic accidents that occurred all around Denver and the surrounding areas. The accidents ranged in type from a pedestrian vs car accident, a commercial trucking accident, to even a multiple car traffic pile-up consisting of more than 50 cars! Here are the details on what was a very dramatic and tragic day in Colorado.
Aurora Pedestrian Killed in Crosswalk
According to Aurora police, a crash that occurred at East Colfax and North Havana around noon yesterday, resulted in the death of a pedestrian who had been walking in the crosswalk.
The man was found to be unconscious and not breathing in the middle of the street, when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The unidentified man was later pronounced dead after being taken to University Hospital.
Apparently, the northbound vehicle was making a left turn onto Colfax Ave. when it stuck the man who was walking in the crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police, and while the investigation is still ongoing at this point, intoxication and speed do not appear to be causes of the accident.
Multiple Vehicle Accident Injures 12 and Causes Significant Delays on I-25
In Castle Pines, the northbound lanes of Interstate 25 were closed for a significant period of time due to a multiple vehicle accident that injured 12 people, all of whom were taken to local hospitals. Of those 12, one person was seriously injured, while the injuries for the rest were classified as minor to moderate.
After fairly long delays on all northbound lanes, and one southbound lane of I-25, first responders were able to clear the scene.
Fatal Trucking Accident Near Keystone Closes Highway 6
In Summit County, near Keystone, a serious head-on accident involving a semi-truck containing car batteries and a pickup truck, resulted in the death of the driver of the pickup on Highway 6, around 8:30 AM. The highway was closed in both directions for a few hours while emergency crews cleared the area.
The pickup truck driver’s personal details were withheld, and police are still investigating the accident to determine a cause.
6th Avenue Closed in West Denver After Crash Involving Over 50 Vehicles
On Thursday night in west Denver, an accident involving more than 50 automobiles closed both directions of 6th Avenue late into the evening. Video of the devastation was recorded by a witness and shows widespread devastation, with car drivers waiting by the automobiles for emergency officials to clean up the scene of the accident.
The pile-up was apparently caused by weather conditions, and thankfully resulted in only non-life-threatening injuries to those involved. The roadway was opened by the morning, but traffic was slowed due to inclement weather.
Vehicle Accidents are Serious and Require Serious Legal Help
Vehicle accidents all too often result in serious and life changing injuries. Those injuries may render a person unable to work, and unable to provide for their families. On top of that, expensive medical bills can quickly pile up, which can cause serious hardship and stress.
That’s why it’s important that, after an accident, the injured parties contact a qualified and experienced Colorado car accident lawyer as soon as feasible. A lawyer can help get you the medical treatment you need while negotiating with insurance companies on your behalf. That leaves you to focus on what’s important, getting better. In addition, an attorney will be able to investigate your accident in order to determine the responsible parties involved, and file any necessary and appropriate claims.
The last thing after an accident that anyone wants to think about is obtaining compensation. Unfortunately, the injuries sustained in an accident can have lingering consequences and years later, you may find yourself dealing with serious symptoms. It is in your, and your family’s, best interests to contact a capable attorney as soon as possible to learn about what your legal options are.
