Car accident statistics

Car accidents can be a life changing experience. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that in 2010 the cost of medical care and productivity losses associated with motor vehicle crash injuries was over $99 billion. This means it was nearly $500, for each licensed driver in the United States. This can mean a financial stress for many families and people. If you only have one car and you’re involved in a car accident it is far more difficult to get to work, let alone get working wages to pay for repairing your car. This is why many people have insurance and why most states require at least limited insurance. Car accidents can not only be life changing in a financial sense but also can cause bodily harm to anyone involved. In fact, every 10 seconds an American is treated in an emergency department for car crash-related injuries, based on data from 2005.
